The Macau Daily Times apologises for the inaccuracy in yesterday’s report titled “Former IDM senior official arrested over power abuse”.

The official is not being arrested by the Commission Against Corruption (CCAC) or any other judiciary departments.

The press release, released by the CCAC on Thursday, was misread by the newspapers and it was only the documents that have been sent to the Public Prosecutions Office for investigation.

Meanwhile, according to information, Manuel Silverio was the president of the Macao Sports Development Board during 2002 and 2003 when the case took place.

Mr Silverio then left the board and became chairman of the East Asian Games committee.

Now attending the 98th anniversary of the Portuguese Olympics Games Committee in Portugal, he declined to respond to the matter, adding that he won’t be worried about being investigated.
