Peter Greenaway, the director of “Nightwatching” which was screened last night as part of the Macau International Film and Video Festival at the Cultural Centre, told reporters that “creating controversy” was the mission of artists.
Mr Greenaway’s cinema is renowned for the heavy influence of Renaissance painting and Flemish painting in particular.
Notably in scenic composition and illumination, the concomitant contrasts of costume and nudity and sexual pleasure and painful death have created debates of the 65-year-old Welsh-born’s production. … continue reading this entry.
