Secretary for Transport and Public Works, Lau Si Io (left), led a team of 10 Macau delegates to meet with vice governor of the Guizhou provincial government, Lu Zhiming, in Guiyang city yesterday.

Mr Lau thanked the Guizhou government on behalf of the SAR government and all the Macau residents for sacrificing their fresh water during the past years and supplying it to the region.

He vowed that he would lead his departments to work towards the goal of turning Macau into a “city of water conservation”.

Meanwhile, vice governor Lu said Guizhou province had “the cleanest water” inside mainland China because of their huge investments in preserving the water resources and emphasising on green work around the affected areas of the hydropower station.

He also thanked the Macau SAR for contributing to his province’s development as “business and trade co-operation between the two cities had been greatly increased especially after the handover of Macau in 1999”.
