Vice governor of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in China, Chen Zhangliang (right), received Secretary for Transport and Public Works, Lau Si Io and the Macau delegation after they arrived in the capital city of Nanning yesterday afternoon.

The vice governor said Macau and Guangxi were “one family”. He vowed that whenever Macau needed their help, his government would provide the greatest support and transport water to the lower stream of the Pearl River under the instruction of the Chinese central government and co-ordination of the water resources department.

Meanwhile, Secretary Lau said the Pearl River Delta regions, especially Macau and Zhuhai, had been affected by salinity over the past few years and the situation was getting more and more severe.

However, he added that Guangxi government’s tremendous support had provided the SAR a solution in ensuring the safe supply of fresh water to the Macau residents.
