The 2008 Miss Macau contestants visited an elderly centre in Taipa yesterday where the group played games and staged performances.

Seventy elderly people aged between 60 and 98 from the Caritas Hong Fai Elderly Day Care Centre received the 10 Miss Macau contestants who offered cookies to all participants after the one-hour activity.

Apart from leading the elderly in a warm-up exercise, the contestants partnered with some other participants to play games.

Members of the day care centre also performed dancing and singing to the group yesterday.

The Miss Macau contest will be resumed this year on September 7 at Cotai Arena, The Venetian Macao after an absence of 11 years.

The contestants will also make their public appearance in a swimsuit fashion show and a hair show which will be staged on August 19 at The Venetian Macao and August 22 in Joy’s Chin salon in Nape respectively.

According to the Macau Government Tourist Office, the beauty contest is aimed to promote the uniqueness and the “new face” of Macau to the outside world.

Aged between 19 and 26, all 10 contestants have obtained minimum university qualification or are still undergoing study in a local university.
