Macau driver Rodolfo Avila beat the other 20 rivals in Malaysia yesterday which crowned him the championship of the Asian SuperCar Challenge (ASCC) race.

The final two races were held in Sepang, Malaysia yesterday in which the 21-year-old Macanese driver both finished in third.

However, Avila had accumulated the highest point of 106, 20 points more than the second place, from the total of six races of ASCC and thus he could bring home the championship title to Macau.

Despite having a “big crash” during yesterday’s Race 2 that made Avila lose some time to fix the damage, he told the Macau Daily Times he was “still happy” about the result as his goal was on “the title rather than winning the race”.

The driver said his next focus is on the Macau Grand Prix in November, but added that it is “still too early” to forecast his chance of championship because he doesn’t yet know who his rivals will be in the annual street circuit motor racing event.

But before starting his intensive training in early October, Avila said he will first spend a holiday in Portugal after coming back to Macau from Malaysia in mid September.
