Six local teenagers aged between 13 and 15 were apprehended by the Judiciary Police (PJ) on Wednesday for allegedly robbing mobile phones and cash from seven pedestrians in separate cases.

The first robbery occurred in the morning of January 2 in Avenida de Sidonio Pais when a 15-year-old student was on his way to school, the PJ spokesman Chan Kin Hong said.

The student was pushed by a suspect into the Flora Garden, where Chan said three other accomplices also appeared and then allegedly beat the victim and snatched 420 patacas from him.

During the investigation the four suspects were found to have committed other three street robberies on January 5 together with two other teenagers.

Chan said each of the robberies on that day involved two victims who also had their mobile phones and cash snatched.

All the seven victims were under age, the police spokesman added.

One of the cases on January 5 took place in the morning at the Montanha Russa Garden, but Chan said the two students did not report to police and thus urged them to come forward yesterday.

The suspects snatched four phones valued at 1,500 patacas, 500 patacas and 2,300 patacas and also 180 patacas of cash in the other two robberies on the day.

Two of the phones were retrieved from a pawnshop afterwards.

The six teenagers, all boys, were surnamed Chu, Lao, Leong, Chan and Hong, and two of them were students whilst the other four neither went to school or had a job, Chan said.
