Macau Chief Executive Edmund Ho Hau Wah: “I expressed my warmest congratulations to Mr Chui who is elected by a high number of nominations and votes. During the election campaign, Mr Chui through various activities and making direct contact with residents acquired general recognition and support from people in different sectors. I strongly believe that after Mr Chui taking office, he must be able to lead the new SAR government and Macau residents, push forward the execution of ‘one country, two systems’ and ensure Macau’s sustainable development.

After the Court of Final Appeal carries out the final verification and the election result is gazetted, I will immediately submit a report to the central government and request for the appointment.

I reiterated that the SAR government will fully cooperate with Mr Chui’s preparation work in order to ensure a smooth government transition and create more favourable environment and conditions for the next government”.

Director Bai Zhijian of the Chinese Liaison Office in Macau: “We are happy to see Mr Chui Sai On be elected the third-term Chief Executive-Elect by a high number of votes. The SAR government adhered to the law and organised the election orderly, the Election Committee members performed their duties, and the general public participated actively and submitted opinions and suggestion…it’s a vivid reflection of ‘one country, two systems’, ‘Macau people ruling Macau’ and ‘a high degree of autonomy’. We believe that with the support of the central government, the leadership of the new Chief Executive and SAR government, and the joint effort of Macau residents, Macau’s future will even be better”.

Hong Kong Chief Executive Donald Tsang Yam Kuen congratulated Fernando Chui Sai On on his election as the third-term Macau Chief Executive.

In his congratulatory message Mr Tsang said Mr Chui has rightly earned his place as the territory’s Chief Executive-Elect as he is totally committed to serving Macau’s people with his devotion, resolution and experience in public service.

“Hong Kong and Macau have long-standing close economic and social ties…I sincerely look forward to building with you [Mr Chui] a closer co-operative relationship to enhance development in the two SARs, as well as the whole Pearl River Delta Region, for the prosperity and well being of our citizens”.
