Around 2,700 affordable housing units of the TN27 project in Taipa are expected to be put up for advance sale in the last quarter of this year, a Housing Bureau (IH) senior official said.
The public housing project in Estrada Coronel Nicolau de Mesquita is scheduled to be completed in the third quarter of 2012.
IH vice-president Kuoc Vai Han disclosed yesterday that the bureau is preparing for the sale of incomplete affordable housing with TN27 will be the first project to be sold under this system.
Yet the advance sale can only begin after the Legislative Assembly passes the draft law covering the sale system.
“We expect to have the conditions [to launch the advance sale] in the fourth quarter of this year at the soonest,” Kuoc told reporters.
She added that selling prices can also be determined after the draft law is passed.
Meanwhile, the Public Housing Affairs Committee inspected the construction progress of the TN27 project and the vice-chairman Leong Keng Seng said he is confident that construction will conclude as scheduled between July and September of 2012.
Leong is however also concerned about supporting facilities around the site especially public transport. In spite of building a bus terminal, he said having enough bus routes is important to ensure the effectiveness of the facility.
In addition, he disclosed that the committee is currently collecting information for the next discussion on Macau’s long-term public housing policy, including whether or not the 19,000 units promised by the government are sufficient to meet the demand.
The TN27 project will provide a total of 2,703 flats in six residential towers with approximately 70 percent being two-bedroom units.
A three-storey public car park and Taipa’s first indoor bus station will also be built.
Land formation work at the Seac Pai Van public housing project in Coloane entered the final stage of rock blasting yesterday, expected to be completed in May.
When complete the main body and infrastructure construction will commence.
It is estimated that about 8,649 units of one to three bedrooms in 24 buildings standing 26 or 27 storey high will be built in 2012, as well as social facilities, public car parks and podium gardens.
It is still not yet certain whether these units will be social or affordable housing.
According to chief of the IH public housing affairs department Cheang Sek Lam, the 21,616 public housing units planned by the SAR Government will all enter public tenders this year. He also said the bureau intends to complete the draft of the public housing development strategy in the second half of the year for public consultation.
Information from the IH and Infrastructure Development Office stated at the end of March that 3,486 public housing units have been built, 3,906 units were under construction, 9,386 units in public tenders, and another 4,838 units were in planning.
